It makes logistics a vector of solidarity

The logistics of the heart. The story of Cathy Lancelle restarts the year of her 50th birthday. It is on the occasion of this anniversary that the one who evolves in the exclusively male environment of logistics finds herself unemployed. Courageously, she decides to resume studies which will enable her to validate a Bac+2 in the sector of Quality, Hygiene, Safety and the Environment (QHSE).

As almost always, it was through encounters and recognition of her know-how that Cathy became Logistics Team Leader for the Donation in Kind Agency. You have surely already seen this black and red warehouse-school, which extends along the A1 and on which is proudly displayed “Campus Euralogistic - Logistics and supply chain excellence in Hauts-de-France”.
This is where this beautiful story is written...

Every day, at the foot of her storage racks, some of which culminate at 9 meters, Cathy works to transform our lifestyles by reconciling generosity, training and technological revolution in the essential field of logistics.

Common sense in action

Logistics is above all a matter of applications. This is what Cathy brings to the learners she accompanies. It allows the beneficiaries of the warehouse-school to train and, for many, to reveal themselves before finding a job. Because what is at stake is this: while fully assuming the role assigned to the Donation in Kind Agency (see box), these "craftsmen" train the future players in modern logistics.

Training, like logistics, occupies a special place in Cathy's heart. It was herself during training at Secours Populaire (as part of her resumption of studies) that she crossed paths with Laurent Desprez, the director of the Euralogistic Center of Excellence. He introduced her to the Agency for Gifts in Kind, of which she is now Logistics Team Leader. A mission that she lives in, literally, so much her enthusiasm transports us.

Virtuously virtuous

Sometimes the use of the term virtuous is overused to say the least. Here there is nothing. Imagine rather that every day, we receive unsold goods from nearly 200 partner brands (excluding food products) to, through the professional training process, reintegrate them into a distribution circuit intended for more than 1 solidarity associations and 250 1 beneficiaries across France.

3 pallets and "already" cramped

Proof of the success of the approach, the warehouse, which can accommodate 30 pallets, sometimes turns out to be too small. However, in terms of eco-transition, it is of course on the conditions and the optimization of the loading that there is a real lever. Cathy observes this regularly, "the trailers are better and better used, optimized, the number of trips is therefore reduced accordingly."

This awareness is one of the working axes of the training provided here. It lasts from two to five weeks during which Cathy uses her knowledge and know-how to convey what she has best in her: a desire for exchanges, sharing to open up new paths, new possibilities... the logistics of the heart is certainly his favorite terrain.

The Donation in Kind Agency

In 2008, Jacques-Étienne de T'Serclaes and a small group of women and men from different professional backgrounds made a damning observation: more than 10% of French people do not have access to all basic necessities, while more than 600 million euros of new unsold products are destroyed. They decide to act by associating the fight against precariousness and the fight against waste: the Agency for gifts in kind was born. By collecting unsold products from companies to redistribute them to associations fighting against precariousness and exclusion, it very quickly found its place as an interface between the business world and the associative world.
